Frontline Legacies

Honoring Our Roots, Shaping the Future.

Frontline Legacies is where our journey began, rooted in a deep commitment to elevating the voices and lived experiences of those who work with fire. We have built our reputation on preserving the history of the fireline and showcasing the deep expertise of wildland fire professionals—transforming these narratives into a powerful force for global influence. Through initiatives like our Wildland Fire Digital Storytelling Micro-grants, Backbone Scholarships, Kyburz Artist Exchange, and historical preservation, we ensure that the insights of those on the ground inform modern policy, technology, and global discourse. By investing in the creative expression and professional recognition of practitioners, we honor the legacy of the workforce while equipping the next generation to lead with courage and integrity.

Summits & Retreats

Wildfire International is anchored by a dedicated headquarters in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California designed to serve as a home for reflection and the deep collaboration required to meet the challenges of modern wildfire. We believe that resilience is built when global leaders and experienced practitioners have a space to step back from the front lines, fostering an environment where innovation is shaped by lived experience. This sanctuary is built to support transformative leadership, providing a quiet setting where expertise is shared across borders and connections are strengthened. As we continue to develop this campus, our focus remains on creating a space that honors those on the ground and sustains the collective strength of the global fire community.

Capacity Building

Bridging Systems for Global Impact.

Our capacity-building efforts ensure that training isn't just delivered, but integrated into a professionalized global network. We focus on strengthening the foundational systems that allow wildfire practitioners to collaborate across fire-prone regions regardless of resources. By fostering these global support structures, we help mobilize a workforce that is operationally independent yet connected and strategically aligned to meet the challenges of the modern wildfire landscape.

Local Initiatives

Integrated and Impactful Outcomes.

We believe that wildfire resilience is most effective when it is grounded in local reality and practitioner expertise. Wherever we work, we strive to integrate with existing local initiatives and efforts to ensure that our programs create seamless, impactful outcomes that respect the community's knowledge and recovery. At our headquarters, we utilize these place-based solutions as a living laboratory to inform our global work, ensuring our systems remain deeply rooted in practice and informed by the realities of living in fire-adapted landscapes.

Consultation

Wildfire International provides expert guidance to agencies, departments, and organizations navigating the complexities of wildland fire management and workforce development. We work closely with our partners to conduct comprehensive country-level and agency-specific assessments, identifying critical training needs and workforce gaps to ensure a mobile and recognized workforce. By centering the expertise of those on the ground, we help shape initiatives that are strategically sound, culturally informed, and designed to meet the unique realities of local landscapes. Whether we are supporting curriculum design or aligning local efforts with global standards, our goal is to build systems that reflect local needs while fostering an international network of professional support.
